Description:

A robot that can be remotely controlled

Inspiration:

We wanted to make a game that is able to physically interact with the world around you. While games like PokemonGo will place things on the background of your environment, we wanted to have your location become a part of the challenge and fun of the game.

What it does:

It is able to move around a room controlled remotely from a laptop

How we built it:

We physically put together our robot and then built the software in python for interacting with it

Challenges we ran into:

We were unable to get connected to and WiFi on the Raspberry Pi for almost an entire day, which set us back significantly, and within 20 minutes of the deadline the camera suddenly stopped working.

Accomplishments that we're proud of:

Setting up wireless connection between the Raspberry Pi and another computer and transferring data between the two.

What we learned:

Threading in Python, communicating wirelessly between a Raspberry Pi and a computer, and the consequences of not sleeping and having too much caffeine

What's next:

Fixing the camera, putting the controls and video stream onto the same platform, and introducing AR capabilities for game-modes.

Built with:

Raspberry Pi, Python, Arduino Motor Controller, 4WD Chassis Kit, and so many energy drinks

Prizes we're going for:

$100 Amazon Gift Cards

Grand Prize

Hexacopter Drone

Misfit Shine 2

Fujifilm Instax Mini 26
