Description:

Meme Runner is a virtual reality game for those ready for a true challenge. Dive into MemeSpace and try to dodge the memes flying at you at warp speed. Watch out, if you crash it's game over!!!

Inspiration:

We wanted to make a virtual reality game that was satisfying to play, creative and all around hilarious.

What it does:

Entertainment for the masses with virtual reality!

How we built it:

We started by developing the scrolling feature of the game and then added the elements such as cube spawning, death function, music, UI, and VR controls.

Challenges we ran into:

When starting new games we had to troubleshoot getting music to play without looping back to the beginning. Also being beginners with Virtual reality, we had to figure out how to implement those controls.

Accomplishments that we're proud of:

We think the immersive-ness of the VR device and combination with our game is a really impressive first round that can easily compete with many of the high level gaming hacks created last year.

What we learned:

How to create 3D games while connecting to VR devices

What's next:

We would like to add a few more easter eggs as well as develop a potential high score system. We also had thoughts about adding hand controls in the form of combat or "coin" collection.

Built with:

We developed our project using Unity, Visual Studio and a Windows Mixed Reality Headset.

Prizes we're going for:

Oculus Go (32 GB)

Arteck HB030 Portable Keyboard

Hustle Award

Call of Duty: Black OPS 4 (XBOX ONE)
