Description:
Commission free stock trading with partial stock bonus incentives for volunteering and community involvement. Imagine if you got a piece of a stock every time you went to volunteer. Over years they would accumulate and not only serve as an investment, but also a way to get young people out for social good.
Inspiration:
Young people are told to invest in tomorrow when they don't have any assets. The experience and academic value from volunteering is undervalued. Companies already spend thousands if not millions in social out reach, imagine if every stock of Apple given out, we could get 50,000 volunteer hours. We had a huge problem in our org getting people to volunteer. Incentives were hard to think of and execute. This is a great way to get young people started on investing in their future and their communities.
What it does:
An iOS app to trade stocks and earn stocks based on volunteer hours. It pulls real-time data to buy and sell options while also providing a platform to earn stock based on social involvement.
How we built it:
It was built using Xcode, Swift connected to a AlphaVantage API to pull stock data all connected through Firebase.
Challenges we ran into:
Connecting and implementing the app to firebase was definitely challenging. The AlphaVantage API was also a lot more difficult to implement than planned. Creating an app with real time data is a lot harder than the negative.

Definitely implementing the AlphaVantage API better, updating and building a solid backend for the volunteering ops as well.
