Description:

We want to create a revolutionary photography based social network

Inspiration:

Whats the first thing people do at famous sites? Take pictures of course! Our platform attempts to bring quality photos at the touch of a button, allowing vacationers to enjoy the moment, rather than attempting to capture it.

What it does:

Our web application is platform which allows the sharing of pictures based on keyword and geographical location. Users are given the ability to favorite pictures into their "portfolio" for later viewing and to save as if they had taken the pictures themselves.

How we built it:

We built this web app hosted in Google Cloud by building a website using PHP, Javascript, HTML, CSS, Bootstrap and mySQL using Dreamweaver and several other database tools and implemented Google Maps API for presenting our location based pictures.

Challenges we ran into:

In this project, we had to connect many small pieces which had to work together in the final product of our functional web app. We created a user login system to store favorites, a keyword search function to find photos and a maps based location finder.

Accomplishments that we're proud of:

We are proud of producing a functional website which is cable able of continuing scale and capable of taking on additional features. We are proud that we were able to get all features of our SQL database functioning including our user system, keyword search, location data, and image database.

What we learned:

Most of our team came in with little web-design experience and was forced to learn PHP and Javascript from the ground up. To be able to go from learning the basic syntax of a language to launching a full scaleable web application is an impressive and satisfying feat.

What's next:

The next steps for this progress is adding additional search functionality including date functionality and adding a weighted search which takes in account both favorites and relevance.
