Description:

Our project, TUSStart is a cloud-based solution for robotic process automation. We developed a platform that users can register and login, and view a community list of automated tasks. Some of the pre-trained tasks include filling out buggy/slow multi-step forms, checking availability from a particular website, navigating buggy enterprise software, and more. A user can simply download the skill, change any parameters, and queue the job to the bot. The bot will then complete the job and notify the user if the task was completed or if it needs attention.

Inspiration:

Our frustration from several online applications sparked our minds to create something that alleviates the issues commonly found in multi-step forms.

What it does:

A software platform that allows users to use some of the pre-trained tasks to automate filling out buggy/slow multi-step forms, helps checking availability from a particular website, or even navigating buggy enterprise software.

How we built it:

Server https://cloud.google.com/compute/docs/quickstart-windows Created a Windows virtual machine instance in Google Compute Engine using the Google Cloud Platform Console. Windows Server 2016 R2. Created a python script that automatically checked for any new automation tasks. A python script that Queries the databases for any jobs(automation tasks). Cloud SQl as database: Second generation instance(fast and more space)

Challenges we ran into:

Time was our biggest roadblock due to many smaller issues arising both from a lack of experience and software bugs

Accomplishments that we're proud of:

We were able to actually automate the tasks we wanted, showing off the main functionality of the platform.

What we learned:

Platforms have many components and efficient communication between all is quite challenging.

What's next:

We hope to fix some of the security issues we had and also improve the overall user experience and interface.
